The Delhi Regional Passport Office is one of the first five passport offices in India. It was set up in 1954 and is situated at Bhikaji Cama Place in New Delhi. The passport office provides passports to the residents of Delhi, along with those residing in neighboring cities of Gurgaon, Rewari, Faridabad, Sonepat, Jajjar, Rohtak, Nuh and Mohindergarh. The office remains open from 9.30 in the morning to 6.00 in the evening. You can visit the place any day from Monday to Friday, except on public holidays.

To obtain a passport, you can get the application form, from the concerned Passport Office, District Passport Centers (DPCs), Speed Post Centers or Passport Application Collection Centers. You can submit the duly filled form to the same. Online registration facility is also provided for the convenience of people. Apart from Delhi, the facility is available at some of the selected cities in the country. In case of an urgent requirement of the passport, you can obtain the same in just 15 days under the Tatkaal Scheme.

Along with the application form, a number of other important documents have to be submitted. For a fresh passport, a proof of address is required. It can be your ration card; certificate from Employer of reputed companies on letter head; water, telephone or electricity bill; statement of running bank account, Income Tax Assessment Order, Election Commission ID card, spouse's passport copy and parent's passport copy in case of minors. A proof of date of birth is also required. A birth certificate from the Municipal Corporation or the certificate from the last school attended can be submitted for the same.

The applicant is required to attach self attested copies of all the documents. However, original documents are to be produced while submitting the form. These documents are returned after the verification of data. One can also authorize any member of his family to submit the form on his behalf. This is to be done with the help of an authority letter. In case you are sending your form by post, the photocopies of all the original documents are to be attested by a Gazetted Officer or Notary.
